The Biodiversity Walk was a walk and talk session dedicated to urban biodiversity, delivered in May 2022.
During the walk, the Local Coalition introduced the participants to the tensions between urban development and biodiversity at the ASP, where wild flora and fauna is under threat.
The activity discussed and contrasted different perspectives and perceptions of the participants, especially interrogating ‘why’ a biodiverse environment is needed and for ‘whom‘. The participants could take a walk on wild and green initiatives at the ASP - such as Anna’s Tuin & Ruigte Garden, the ‘messy corners’ of the ASP, the community garden from Spark Village and the terrains of the university - together with an urban ecology expert of Waag.
